Rode over to Dan Shoenwald's company building here in Camarillo, CA, where the second floor of the building is his private motorcycle collection. Lots of cool Nortons, and other makes, there. You can see pictures of most of the bikes in the collection here:

Dan opens the collection once a year to local bike clubs, including the Southern California Norton Owners Club, and it's a great event. I planned to collect pictures of all the Nortons that were ridden to the event, but only got eight of the nine that showed up. Not sure if many other forum members showed up besides John (xbackslider), myself, and Chris (elefantrider). I try to get there most years, just to visit my old Production Racer, which was restored and eventually ended up with Dan.

This is a picture of my grandson's MK3, which I rode, and Chris' P11, as well as my friend's MZ Brutale, as we were getting ready to leave from my place.

The other Nortons there, all Commandos, included this blue Interstate

Seems like a popular time for Interstates.

And just for good measure, this is my old PR, with a picture from a previous display of Dan's Commandos. It never looked that good when I was racing it:rolleyes:.

Nice pics Ken. Thanks for sharing. Looks like fun.
Hope you are keeping well...

cheers

The two tone interstate is interesting, don't see many conical primary covers especially on interstates.

I can't tell for sure as the jacket is covering the side cover, but I think that Interstate was built buy the late Bill "Bib" Bibianni from spare parts. Bill was the president of Southern California club for years. He called that bike "Johnny Cash" as in one piece at a time. The new owner had a picture of Johnny Cash painted on the side covers.

I did talk to the owner briefly, but don't recall him mentioning Bib. I didn't see any picture on the left side cover when he removed the Jacket. He did mention that the bike was for sale, but I don't recall a price.

It was good to see Ken there but it was embarrassing to admit to him that I did not ride my Commando but instead a recent acquisition, a 2002 1200 Suzuki Bandit.

Possible oil pressure issues are keeping me off the Norton for now.

Ken gave me a proper talking to though and I vowed to reform.

This is "Johnny Cash" the artwork is only on the right side. Guy in the white hat is Kevin who now owns the bike Bib pieced together. I'm sure he was at Daniels on Sunday.

Yep. That looks like the one in my second post above. And Kevin looks familiar too. I'm pretty sure I saw him there.

Ken

Yes owner was there, Kevin Nerden, a past president of the So Csl Norton Club who stepped into the breach and IMO saved the club when long time club President Bib quite suddenly passed away.

Good thing; fix that thar Norton!!
A little stray from the topic, but my ex sister in-law worked longer than age 65 and saved for retirement including travel in her retirement years. She then became somewhat disabled and now has to walk with a cane. Given this, she has the means to travel but is limited in activity once she gets to the destination. She now says it was a mistake to wait.

In the garage today maintaining the 850. :)
<edit> Cheers!
