I have searched for previous threads on this and they all appear to pretty old.

I am thinking about giving the chronometric speedo from my 650SS a birthday.
Who is best at treating these instruments with the repect they deserve? I have bought parts from Speedograph Richfield (UK) and am aware of Howards Instruments (AUS) but am seeking advice as to who's best, because I'm sure there must be others.
I am in Australia but that will not stop me sending overseas if necessary.
Cheers

Russell Smalley.
Thanks Mark!
'tis a thing of beauty!
Go on - zoom in on the workings. No jewels but should be!

It gives you a good summary of who is out there.

Greg Poirer refurbished my Chronometric speedo.
I asked him to return to me all original parts, for keepsakes sake, which he did.
The instruments' calibration is spot on with the Interstate highways' mile markers.

I dunno who is best, but Greg would get my business again.

These instruments are indeed Instruments of Beauty. IMO, the soul of a Brit bike resides in the chronometric instruments, ....... The clocks!

Ben’s done a few tacho/speedo rebuilds for me over the years. He is not cheap but I’ve never faulted his work.

I see you have several choices in Aussie
Land. I would pick one of those for the reason you might suffer loss of an irreplaceable original piece of your 650SS in international freight. The soul of your Norton is in the clocks,.....you wouldn't want to lose it.

Only 18454 miles? I put half that on my Atlas first two weeks I owned it. My chrono Speedo went 85K miles before I sent it off for a rebuild. And only because the ten thousand mile digit would roll backwards when I red lined the engine. I got tired of resetting it to keep tract of the original miles. Otherwise it was functioning perfectly without even a faded dial.

Robinson in Auckland did both my speedo and tach, and they are rock solid.

Yep - but it's old (like us;)) and given the beauty that these add to the bike, I wouldn't mind a professional "once-over".
Cheers
