I think someone asked me to do a report once upon a time about tank bags. I can’t remember who but, here is what I use and what I like:
It’s a Cortech 18ltr. 2.0
I’ve used for over 4 seasons of riding and the sun is just starting to make it bleach out.
Its magnetic and even with the zipped out extension deployed it still holds fast. So much so that my clear-coat finish on my tank “takes a read” on really hot days of the impression that the magnets make but the clear-coat returns to not show once the tank is off. It has plenty of room for tools with two side zip panels The front pouch is a dedicated rain cover that you apply when the weather turns foul which has a clear plastic window so you can see your maps or cell phone gps.
stuff I carry in it:
Once off your bike you can carry it like a nap sack. My only complaint is that you must be very careful where you lay it down. (Not on a metal grinding table).
I owned the first version of this tank bag from this company and found the base surface where the magnets were deteriorated and when I was lazy by yanking the bag off my bike instead of carefully removing the pad that the magnets were fastened. This ended up scratching the tank. I now do not use the handle to pull the bag off the bike but carefully lift the magnet flaps away.
I have the smaller tank bag 12 Ltr and I think it looks better on the Roadster tank.
Well thats what I have. What do you use?
Cheers
Tom
