I have a Mk3 under engine rebuild and need a cam.
Will a 06-1084 camshaft substitute for the listed 06-2608?
Thanks

Mk3 book shows 06-2608

That isn't an actual 06-2608 as it's a breather camshaft.

From the Norvil parts list:
"061084 CAMSHAFT - STANDARD - FITS 131257 ONWARD - 750 & 850 - (1S)"
Camshaft 06-1084 vs 06-2608 for Mk3

"062608 CAMSHAFT - STANDARD - FITS 200000 ONWARD ONLY - (1S)"

Whether you order 061084 or 062608 you'd almost certainly be sent the same '061084' camshaft.

Same at RGM. If you search '062608' you will be taken to 061084.

This is an original 06-2608:

Five NHT single chain cams:
inboard tach drive-points drive on end

From LEFT end:
-1
1S grind-20M3S breather(Breather disc drive-drilled sling ring-scrolled oil grooves)-06-1084

-2
-2S grind-20M3S Breather present-abnormal scrolled shaft-bent from new AFAIK 202206 = reason for buying a new Shenstone 2S cam

-3
1S grind(stamped 1 next to sling ring)-plain/200000 unscrolled shaft-sling ring still present but no 20M3S breather drillings 06-1084

-4
1S grind-scrolled shaft-sling ring gone 06-1084

RIGHT end
-5
1S grind-MKIII extended scrolling-06-2608
MKIII cases has oiler catch hole, not directly onto cam bush, but end feeds cavity beyond bush

Best Cam would be 06-1084B which would include all of:
-1
1S grind-20M3S breather(Breather disc drive-drilled sling ring-scrolled oil grooves)
-5
MKIII extended scrolling

This one new cam would do it ALL, for all single chain NHT

Many (most?) original MkIII cams were cast from coal miner's toe butter, so you don't want an NOS one...

well mine lasted 60K miles, but I had a oil pressure problem last summer and it might have succumbed because of that.
I will be needing a good cam and lifters. :(

But that is a 750 and not the cam GrandPaul is referring to. (Unless you replaced the cam with an original Mk3 cam.)
