A while back I mentioned the 'cam spot' and some of you guys did not seem to know what I was talking about. If you have a real race cam in your motor and ride your bike holding the throttle in only one position, as the revs rise you will feel a surge of power as the motor comes onto the cam. The exhaust system can do similar as it starts to work properly. The two can reinforce one another. However with Commandos, the cams are usually pretty mild and a 2 into 1 exhaust system gives smooth and steady power from almost zero revs. If you have got a four-stroke race motor with nothing below 5000 RPM and a close ratio box with a high first gear, it is often impossible to get around a relatively slow corner without dropping below the power band and having to slip the clutch. When it comes back on, you have a problem. First gear at 5000 revs on some bikes can be 70 MPH.
