I'm measuring an early commando timing side cam bushing width at .985" and a later Commando bushing width at .960" This is a pretty wild discrepancy and makes for sloppy cam end play.

Can anyone confirm this?

Mine measures up at 0.985" and there is a shim washer behind the sprocket that's 0.008"

I'm not sure of the year of my engine but it's a 20 - **** engine number

Cam is sucked up to TS case by the tach drive so bush wide don't locate it just the RH thrust waster/spacer. Never use the tab thrust washers if still with tab on.
The DS get the split bush or a plain one with oil spiral made. Can't hurt to clean out to more funnel shape the tiny oil drip feed holes to bushes.

Anyone else have a Timing side cam bushing less than .985 wide? This includes the lip on the inside and determines the cam end play between the cam washer and sprocket.

The tac is removed.
