Is the seat on your beautiful 850SS a cut down Roadster item or did you fabricate it all yourself ?
cheers

I got it from Grandpaul who removed it from a customer's rebuild. The base consists of a cut-down stocker lap-welded together and I'm sure the original maker started with a stock-fitting cover or had one made to suit the truncated pan. I am currently in Central Arkansas riding the other bike, but I can take a pic of the pan and post it Monday night when I get home if that would help. GPZ also may have info.

And thank you for the compliment. I've had this bike since 1973 and it's in it's 4th iteration. It started at a 'glass-tanked yellow Roadster, I changed it to a green Fastback with a 1/4 fairing. back to a Roadster and now (thanks to a metal Hi-Rider tank) an SS. When I saw the seat on Paul's customer's bike, and he said it would be for sale, I grabbed it, thinking it would fit on my latest version. I don't have passenger pegs anymore since I barely fit on it alone, so I figured I didn't need a dual seat, either.

Thanks, a pic of the seat pan would be great if you can.
I'm looking for one now to do the same.
