hi..i am starting on the front brake part of my 72 commando project..i am using magura 13mm master cylinder with banjo bolt/fitting on that end but want to run other end of SS braided hose straight into stock caliper and eliminate metal pipe. what fitting/size should I put on the caliper end of hose to do this?
thanks

The down side of what you are proposing is that you'll end up screwing the master or the caliper onto the brake line. having the bulkhead fitting allows a stress free brake line install. The Spiegeler lines that I sell allow a degree of movement in the fitting/line interface area to relieve the stress, so you can do it either way (bulkhead fitting or not), the stock bulkhead fitting just makes it easier; stainless hard pipes are available from RPC.

The threads in your caliper are 3/8-24, the end fitting you need, for a custom line, is identical to the one on your current hard pipe, as is the flare on the pipe. Spiegeler makes all my customer braided stainless brake lines, they offer a variety of fittings, colors and angles to work with.

road scholar...yes I see that listed on your website but no photo it has banjo fitting on magura end?

Very few pictures on the website; I keep meaning to do something about that, but the hours are starting to turn into minutes for me. Any way, I can put any DOT fitting on any length of braided stainless you want. the banjo fittings come in 180/90/45 bends, in either 3/8" or 10mm (good for the marriage of a Magura master with an English caliper. The straight male fittings come in short or long lengths, with convex of concave terminations, also in 3/8-24 or M10x1.0, there are 7 different colors to choose from, both lines and fittings, the lines are available with or without sheath.

RPC carries some stock length brake lines, mostly for the MK3 rear, hard pipes also for most models. I like to speak directly with customers wanting brake lines to insure that every order is a V 1.0 success; turn around time is usually less than a week (holiday periods excepted). More to the point, custom made braided stainless brake lines from order to your doorstep in about 10 days.

As above, but in the UK, the fittings are still made by Goodgridge. If you get blank looks from a hose builder, tell them they are the same fittings that are used / sold by Mini restorers, that is why Goodridge still make them.

I have found the following, but I rather suspect it might be inaccurate as in the past I understand that the twin discs were invented by Robinson and came off a car;

60's Dunstall disc Brake spares

I have what appears to be an early dunstall hydraulic twin disc brake on my Triton. The discs are fully floating as each caliper, one each side of the wheel, has only one moving piston which is 1.5 inch diameter having two groves for ring seals and the round brake pad firmly attached to it. I am told Dowty made the seals. Can anyone tell me if the seals or pads are available still or have I to continue making my own pads from ex car pads Hampshire, England have attached shots of the brake caliper fitted to the bike with disc and one with it removed showing the fixed pad on the left, gap for the disc and the hydraulic caliper with the 1.5 inch piston with pad just protruding both pads are round at 1.5inch Trevor Coe Those calipers look rather like Cleveland light aircraft units, so it's just possible that aircraft seals may fit.
