Anyone see the 650 Norton Dominator in the Budweiser commercial during the Super Bowl. There were 2 motorcycles a Norton & a H-D.

Yes I saw it, I suppose if you are going to pay a million dollars for a commercial
you should at least have one Norton in it.

That weren't no HD.

Big single, maybe a Matchless. :13 seconds

Thanks Swooshdave, I missed the commercial on T.V. but I saw most of the first half and the Madonna halftime show, but right after that I had to get the kids up stairs for a bath and into bed, got back downstairs and the Giants were down by 2 in the 4th. Loved that last touchdown!! Cj

yes, Thanks Dave. Freeze frame on the bikes. The other looks like a Matchless single rather than a harley. Maybe a bit out of time cinc as the boys look like 50s dress while the Norton is a '60 at the oldest - slimline featherbed. It's Hollywood :)

My Bad Call for thinking it was a H-D. It was short scene of those 2 bikes. Nothing like having a replay.

That "650" (600?) Dominator is a 500 88 SS.

Well, proves a point that I don't know my Norton's. I failed, back to the Norton 101 classroom. Thanks L.A.B.

I thought that it might be this bike. It was a 1962 88ss that someone had for sale out in California several years ago. It had been imported from England.

But the Budweiser Domi has cowhorn handlebars and a see-through rear number-plate holder off a mid-sixties bike, and the California 88ss does not.

What is odd to me is that although the bikes have the correct timing cover on the engine with the tach-drive mount slanted forwards, they have found a tach drive that routes the cable straight upwards so that it does not foul the exhaust pipe.

I guess a later owner could have switched some parts, but I don't know why they would swap that rear plate holder out unless the bike was wrecked. The California 88ss shows a common mistake when restoring these early slimlines, although the bikes came in colors, that rear number plate holder was always black....

Rare bikes in the USA. I have seen or heard of several 1962 88ss bikes here, but in every case they have been imported after the fact by servicemen or people moving here from the UK or Aus.. Berliners did import some in 1963, but those were black and silver.

Nice still off that commercial, Beng!

I could have sworn I saw a Norton in that ad and went straight to the interweb to find the commercial. All I could get was a slightly fuzzy still.

I thought the Norton was either an SS or Atlas due to the timing cover - no 'N' badge on the cover and with a tach drive. It does bear a striking resemblance to that '62. I think the badge was on timing covers through 1960 or 61, but of course I can't find anything to back that up right now. Tach drives were optional and rare for most Nortons of this period, except for the SS.

The bike behind looks like a mid-50s G80 or G80S. I don't think its a C or CS because I've only seen them with the larger =M= decal rather than the small badge with the circle, as seen on this bike. I guess its better advertising to have a big logo on a competition bike.
