Hi guys.
The breather setup inc. the elbow pipe, breather spring and breather disc that usually resides on the drive side upper front corner of my engine was removed and the hole plugged when I first rebuilt my engine about 7 years ago and the breather shifted to the top rear timing side case where the points set up was on the earlier commandos. At the time I used a later cam that didn't have the notches for the rotary breather plate.
I'm now setting up to reassemble the bottom end. The radius cam I got from JS has the notches to drive the rotary disc. My question is...........Do I need to refit the breather rotary disc and spring or just leave them out. I am fitting a CNW reed breather to the rear of my drive side case. (and plugging the appropriate holes in the timing side case.) :)
Hope that made sense.

just use the CNW - comstock reed breather. do not fit the timed breather.

Thought as much but didn't know if the cam with the notches needed the disc and spring to keep it positioned correctly.
Cheers

jug,
The notches in the cam are just there to drive the disk for the earlier bike breather. The latter bikes did not have the notches. No worries with the new cam. It will run nicely without the disk spring setup.

The cam is held in position by the trust washer on one side and the cam drive sprocket on the other side of the cam bush in the RH crank case.

Thanks guys, that helps greatly. Jim supplies a shim with the cam kit that is placed either between the bevelled thrust washer and the cam bush on the inner side or behind the cam sprocket on the outer side, to centre the cam lobes on the lifters. Didn't think I needed to run the breather bits but wanted to be sure.
Thanks again guys. :D
