If my kick start only Norton dies on the road because the repaired stator (last fall,cracked wire within) fails ,could I use one these boosters to provided enough spark to start the engine , I suspect it would be wind pissing as , battery would still get no charge from alternator and bike would quit soon after booster was disconnected .... is this correct
 
You are better off relying on the capacity of your battery than a starter pack - it is designed for slower power release and has a higher capacity.

Take the worst case scenario Yuasa YB9B battery with a capacity of 9ah (most are better than this these days) and assume the ignition is drawing 2 1/2 amps.

That will give you around 3 1/2 hours to get home.
