Just back from a ride and decided to attach the paddock stand bobbins in order to check and lubricate the chain. Inside the pack with the bobbins was a note - "warning, remove bobbins before riding"
Is this serious? Do they need to be removed before riding...

I just checked because i always leave them on. Indeed mine are short, don’t stick out that much , but when they would have been longer than it could damage the exhaust. I have shorties by the way.

I cut mine so they are short enough to stay on the bike. Having said that, paddock stand bobbins are dirt cheap and there are loads of different styles to choose from.

And there exist short ones you can leave on the bike without risk of damage...

My Dominator came with bobbins already on it. Dont know if it was by design or a nice touch by the dealer.

Has anyone experience of fitting "crash bobbins" I was thinking of fitting R&G.They dont list for a 2018 916 (mine) im presuming the frame hasnt changed since inception?
