Bitsa Triumph completed

Well, I guess one "can" build a motorbike ... from "fleabay" parts. :shock: I started with 1969 650 motor, and a seat. Pretty much everything else from fleabay over the time. Took about two years of gathering additional parts and fiddle farting around, working on it when I felt like it. Nice to have it finally finished, and its fun to ride. Has a 1976 T140 frame, 1969 Triumph T120 engine (complete rebuild with all new bearings, seals, gaskets, and crank sludge tube cleaned.) Disc brake front end, etc, etc.

I don't even want to think about how much I spent. Comments welcomed.



I used a Nissin M/C for the front brake with built in stop switch, and a single stainless brake hose with adapter fittings. I think it is a much neater and cleaner install than the stock setup, what with multiple hoses and pipes, and all the junctions just waiting to leak.

Good to know its a fleabay creation success story. As for the dough spent you can't take it with you and you'll get a bit of fun with the Triumph. Brake set up looks good also, if it works and you're happy with it job done.

Looks really nice. If it runs as good as it looks, it'll be a fun ride for many years.

While the handlebars and sissy bar are not to my personal taste, there is nothing I would criticize on the bike. I especially like the paint scheme.

Do you have any "before" photos of the engine, and/or any progress shots?

Paul, does the best triumph forum have to be a complete triumph or would my rickman be suitable as it has original front end, hubs engine etc. there are some nice entries already

As long as it's a classic Triumph, be it the bike, rolling chassis, or engine, it'll be approved.

I sold the Burgandy and White "Euro" tank on fleabay a couple weeks ago.

I like your bike a lot (except for the sissy bar, but as said if you like it that's all that matters)
Particularly like the 71 gas tank, they are so hard to get hold of in the UK at least, I have one on my own T140 and had to get it from the US, much more in proportion to the bike than the later peanut tanks, and the less said about the hideous box shaped UK tank the better :roll:

Congratulations on a great looking bike! I'm partial to bitsas myself, as a builder I generally prefer those over restorations.
It looks like you have used the original 69 top end on it, how did you manage to fit it in the OIF? The factory had to redesign the head and bolt system to be able to do it...

Top photo shows it has OIF rocker boxes and head steady.

Yes, looking closer it seems to have the 72 head set up. The mystery that wasn't... Thanks.
