I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions but I favour Plasti-kote , it's durable and very shiny.

Depending on what you're trying too paint (body parts etc...), and having gone through multiple attempts at paining my glass seat base this winter, I can tell you that the base coat is less important than the clear coat stages with a view to getting a professional job. In fact, I ended up with only one uniform base coat, and multiple coats of clear which were then progressively sanded (400 - 2500 grit) to get the pro finish.

What are you planning to spray ?
Little bits are good for spray bombs, bigger bits like tanks and frames are better in better paint.

Unless you are going for an el cheapo effort, or a rat bike look ?

I was pleasantly surprised with this Rust-Oleum #7779830 gloss black protective enamel (full number on can bottom). Went on easy, dried nicely, and finish looks good.

Plus one on the Rustoleum!!

Plus two on Rustoleum!

One of the best endorsements of Rustoleum I ever heard was a PBS documentary interview of a graffiti "artist" who painted the subway cars in NYC (long time ago). He said in a heavy Bronx accent "first steal a couple of cans of Rustoleum, one can of Rustoleum is worth three cans of shit paints".

My experience for lawful purposes is the same.

for cheap paint I have used this, they must have changed the formula with the spray bombs lately, because it is very black goes on real nice and dries well.
