So, how much should the clutch basket wobble? When I Hold the basket along it’s diameter, I can pull it in and out from left to right about 1/8” or so. That seems like too much, but I have no reference as to whether that’s excessive, and if so, what to do about it.
Thanks, in advance.

Is that with the nut secured, or just loose on the mainshaft? Mine doesn't wobble.

i also had problems with clutch wobble due to a worn mainshaft. clutch center by AN was new.

I used loctite 660 on junction mainshaft-clutch center with good results. pruduct is pricy.

the hard part is to get the clutch aligned in the right position within time.

for dismantling it is needed to heat the area to ~180°C with e.g. a propane torch.

not a very comfortable procedure, but this was working fairly well for me.

Wobble is in the ball bearings which allow the basket to rotate independent of the main shaft gear. All good. No worries.

The only connection between the clutch basket and clutch center is a ball bearing. When you put pressure on the outer edge of the clutch basket, you will feel some movement in and out. It’s certainly not a lot but noticeable. All clutch baskets, stock or belt drives (that I am aware of) use a ball bearing in this application

Norman White told me....if there is no play in the bearing there is something wrong....it should 'wobble'....a bit!

Granted but he initially said 1/8' and then it went down to .008".

In addition, if there is any play between the clutch center gear and the main shaft, it will add to the total movement. On mine, that play between the clutch center and main shaft is probably about 5 thou.
