Greetings,
I'm interested in fitting an alloy "beehive" tail light to my 1974 commando. I really dont like the big square lights they fitted to the later bikes. Do any of you guys know of a bolt on replacement. Triumph, Norton, BSA, or otherwise? I'm including a shot of a 69 tail light ...that I kinda like if no alternate alloy light is available. I think this one is the fastback type. To complicate matters just a bit, I would like to keep the stock blinker set up. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Glenn

Hi Glenn,
Iron John in Canada supplies Aluminum tail light housings in rough form ready for sanding and polishing in both 750 and 850 style. I fitted the 750 one to my 74 Roadster as like you the big square 850 style one looks out of place. John does not list them on his website but just email him and see if he has any in stock. Great guy to deal with and a great help.

Glenn,
Tail light on the Mk2a is standard 750 parts except for the housing which comes form Iron John. Number plate bracket is from RGM.

This is described as a 66 / 67 triumph Tail Light Mount ( Id thought 67 BSA ) .

possably the more eligant of that type .http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRIUMPH-500-650 ... 0884378720

Originally that lense type was GLASS . Standars are slipping :x :P Pre Unit constantly shed Jap Pattern ones , British mount & only tightened lense weekly .
Eventually British screws & Lense & it stayed put . They had trouble with the Jap. batteries in the left foot 750 Triumph Twins in Aus . The British replacement
ones didnt disintegrate the plates . Mustve been sympatetic Vibrations , Man .  :D

It might be more "elegant" at first glance, but when you tek screw/rivet the number plate to the mud guard, elegance has gone out the window.. :D :D :D

These Originally were custom :P BATES fittings ,

these are actually clean lined with the central crease / backbone running through . When Clean .
a Development of the Grab Handle / lift Handle ( for those who insist on center stands ) Pre Unit
Type . Which would obviously be Most Appropriate .
