Hi There

After many years the battery has died, I have a a MK3 interstate 1977 the starter motor has been removed so I don't need anything with that much power to turn the engine...what is concerning me is the charging system is it suitable for the absorbed glass mat technology i.e the Gel type which have become popular over the past few years. Has anybody used one and did it work ok?

Yes they work great. No maintainance. 14ah for non electric start machines, suitable for the 180 watt stator.

This thread has brought up a question I have had for sometime, and the parameters of the original question just "gelled" the question.

I have a Mk3 that I plan to fit with a '72 battery tray so that I can also add the ham-can air filter; I will be using the CNW or Atlantic Green starter, so...

Does anyone have enough experience with lithium ion batteries to make a recommendation for the smallest to be reliable?

Match your needs to the proper amp hours needed. Let's say for an electric start that would be 18ah. What ever size the Ballistic or Shorai battery that is, is what you get and it will be comparatively small
