Price is insane but a WM3 Boranni without raised center is hard to come by and the recent re-pops with that raised center are not as light.

At a better price I’d buy it.

Are any of the spokes in a straight pull? I have no idea how one would deal with that, but I certainly wouldn't take it down the road with any confidence.

If it is a rim for a commando, it obviously isn't for an early drum brake hub. A later model disc hub's diameter is smaller, so the angles would seem to improve if laced to a disc hub, but how would you know before buying it whether it's correctly dimpled for the disc hub...

Paying a high price for some parts that don't belong together assembled by someone who is clueless looking to make a buck is more than annoying considering that someone might buy it and try to ride it down the road with a disastrous result. The seller had a phone number listed, so I was tempted to call him and give him a heads up on what he has there, but I would be assuming that he's just clueless rather than a scumbag who doesn't care if someone gets hurt.

You might call him and tell him it’s next to worthless for the reasons discussed, adding that drum brakes are common as dirt since everyone converts to disc so the only value is the speculation that the rim might possibly be laceable to a disc hub

So, given the risk, offer $50 or ?

I'm such a pessimist that I think the seller knows the rim and hub don't match but he doesn't give a shit... Me calling him up to tell him he's an idiot and potentially selling something that could severly injure someone isn't going to return me a "Hey, thanks for the head's up". Instead he's going to say, "Fuck you!"

Maybe I'll use the anonymous email option to contact him, but I would bet money that the ad stays up and the discription doesn't change.

Edited to add: I used the anonymous email option on craigslist to give the seller a heads up. I still think I'm going to get an "F--- You" back...

A WM3 width rim on the front wheel? Why? Does anyone here actually run that wide a tyre on their front?

Yes, look at the recommended rim sizes for new Avon Roadriders - most of them are 2.15-2.75.

I sent the seller an email saying that the hub and rim were not compatible. I got no response back at all, and the ad is still up, so obviously he's more than just a jackass. He's a jackass who wants $450. for some total crap that someone could get hurt trying to ride.
