Mainly for our Aussie based members - Competition Systems (Carrum Downs, Vic) appear at first glance to be a legitimate operator, and may have been at one time.

It appears that they have been taking orders (and payment) without providing product, for a couple of years now. I ordered a PF2C TPS, received a ‘your order has been processed’ email and then tumbleweeds! No response to any comms, phone off the hook, message bank full etc etc.

Lots of complaining online - some have been duped thousands for full Jenvey systems:oops:!

Not sure how they’re getting away with it. I’ll try processing through ‘trading standards’ so others don’t get screwed, but not holding my breath - it appears others have tried!

Avoid.

If you google the company and go to the given street address it's actually a restaurant with a different name. Looks like they have recently changed their name as well to Classic Throttle. Every review is bad complaining of fraud.

Goes to show that even when you’re buying a (relatively) inexpensive item, it pays to do your due diligence. A simple search would have revealed these shysters for what they are. I’m a bit long in the tooth to be learning that lesson!🤣

Ironically, if I’d have purchased through ‘flea-bay’ I’d have had protections. Ho hum!

If you paid with a credit card, you should normally be protected.

You can by the TPS from Jenvey .

Thanks guys - good advice. Should have gone through Jenvey initially. No big deal for such a small purchase, but you’ve gotta feel for the guys that have paid for full systems.

Just how these people get away with this behaviour over such a protracted period is beyond me.

To close this thread off.

A little over a week ago I messaged this company letting them know that I would process a complaint ref their business practices through the appropriate channels. Today a package arrived with a TPS, via priority mail 😃👍 - Yaaaaay……!

Unfortunately not the Magneti Marelli item paid for, but what looks like a cheap Chinese knock off item, with no markings whatsoever and a missing compression insert. The box has a Magnetti Marelli logo on a label that looks like it’s been produced on a cheap office printer by a 12 year old 🫤👎 - Booooo….!

What I ordered.

What I (eventually) received.

The advice stands - avoid this company👎!

Not sure if it worldwide or just the US, but when buying by credit card the seller has max 30 days to ship (unless they say less then that rules). The credit card company must refund your money if you request it for not delivered, or not the proper product, I'm not an expert, look here for a lot more US info: https://consumer.ftc.gov/articles/w...s-you-never-got-or-you-get-unordered-products

And, it not just credit cards, all payments are covered in some way. For instance, most methods are covered by the FTC rules, but debit cards by the bank that issues them and then is banking rules/laws.

Basically, don't take it!

Good advice - thanks. Luckily I have 4 months purchase protection with my card. Gives me time to squeeze this shyster a little to try and get him to do the right thing. Might help others in encouraging him to change his practices or get the hell out of trading. No doubt karma will follow eventually.
