Hey guys,
Does anyone know of these guys in "ON", Ontario I guess.
Ross Thompson Metal Finishing. Ph. (519) 232-4708.
rosst@execulink.com.
He is advertising repairs to petrol tanks and also selling converted Atlas tanks to suit Commando.
Doesn't look to bad on the add. 4 galls.
Have contacted him, waiting for reply.
AC.

"Converted Atlas tanks to suit Commandos" are called "Fastback Longrange" tanks or "Interpol" tanks.......

Yes, I've done business with him. He's been amongst the British motorcycle community for many years. He used to have a nice cache of BSA Gold Star and RGS parts. My dealings with him have always been straight up. A little on the upper end of the price scale in general, but no B.S.

If I recall correctly he was selling some replica four gallon Gold Star tanks a few years ago at Daytona. The ones I saw were indistinguishable from the originals. He does quality work.

Steve has stated the typical response to questions about that biz from folks who've dealt with them.

Ross Thompson is the ONLY person I have ever seen that can repair a mangled BSA A65 tank so well that it could be rechromed (paint hides flaws but chrome amplifies them).

I have seen several examples of his work and they have all been stunning!

He is getting my Hi-Rider tank (as soon as I can find the filler cap I want), I was hoping to have a buddy take it to Mid Ohio to deliver it to him but that window is quickly closing.

He does NOT work cheap, but his work is VERY good.

Vince

Ditto ,plus for you Aussie extra shipping costs and u get to make a strong ,lightweight shipping box and wait a while. That's why we have winter up here to do this stuff n' teardowns ,a mixed blessing I assure you.

I've met one other. Don't know if he's still doing them, but Roland Tremonte is a master.

Thanks again., I'm not looking to get work done, but rather looking at options for a tank.
ZFD Are you sure.? I can see the similarities between the Atlas and the Interpol.
I have asked him to send some photos if possible, Fitted to a Roadster.
Metal tanks in Oz seem to be so outrageous that i'm getting to the stage where I am considering anything that fits,
as long as it doesn't look rediculous.
Lets face it there are plenty of " specials " out there now and the F/G Tank can sit in the shed.
AC.
