Just bought "Gus" on eBay http://www.classicbikeexperience.com/cbe_cafe_bikes/the_fuss_about_gus, the bike that launched the guys at Classic Bike Experience (way) up in Burlington, VT. I have my original (bought new) 1975 MK III and a potential project motor/tranny/frame/Plus so this is a great addition.

Couldn't believe the original was for sale as I was just up at their shop in Essex, VT two weeks ago. My son and I both loved Gus II on their shop floor. SO, when I saw Gus I on eBay I was pretty tempted, especially since CBE wants $18,000 for Gus II (or whatever number they're calling the current one for sale).

I live in NH and CT but bike is way out in Arkansas and my intent is to drive and pick him up. Yeah, I know I can save a little money having him shipped but I was stationed in that area in my Army days and frankly, like the adventure of the ride. Also, I don't like to pay money sight unseen, aside from the pictures the current owner shared.

As I sold my Chevy Avalanche (AKA motorcycle transporter) several years ago, I'm without a trailer or pick-up. I DO have a Jeep Rubicon Unlimited w/tow package so towing's not an issue, I just am hoping to borrow someone's trailer and I'm happy to pay expenses and place a deposit on the trailer.

PM me if anyone has an idea. My (obvious) default is to UHaul it or use Taylor Rental.

thanks all,

Hey Ho arbrnrngr. I was just gonna suggest contacting motorcycle shops or Norton club up around your home then saw mention of Arkansas. I'm in NW Eureka Springs area with a low small tire trailer I've carried two Combats to upper NY and back just fine but how would you return my trailer and I may not be very close even in Arkansas. Always wise to have your own trailer if riding mc's from flats to splats and new friends to rescue and stuff that don't fit inside anything. NW Arkansas and MO state above is a cycler's zoommy curvy up and downy paradise with eye stretching vistas in great time of the year. Lower part of Ark below I-40 is just flat with boring rice fields and industry on straightest roads on and on.

Hobot, thanks for the reply. I'm off in a few days - will be driving down in my Jeep and rented a UHaul-it motor sickle trailer. Ended up being like $15/day so dirt cheap. Thanks man for the kind offer.

Hopefully we'll catch up at one of the National NOA meetings. I haven't been since New Hampshire in about 1992 or 3 - that one was 2 miles from our lake home up there.

Life is short so get in all ya can. Safe journey while checking cycle tie downs routinely. I've heard seniors spout wisdom that if it flys float or fucks, just rent it.
