Hi All,
I am replacing my cam chain and need a timing cover tool to secure the intermediate gear whilst torquing the cam nut. I have searched around to buy one but can't find one anywhere.
I am in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Anyone on the east coast willing to lend theirs out for a few days? I will happily pay any postage to and from.
If so, please PM me. I would be super grateful.
Justin

I've got cut down ancient TS cover for just this purpose to lend for long periods. Shoot your snail mail to me and I'l shoot it out Monday to get on with your show. I'd guess about $7 to send each way, unless I label it book rate : ) In case i miss your reply here ping < hobot@madisioncounty.net >

That is very clever, very simple and very effective.
And might save a lot of timing covers from a cruel fate !

Whats with the grey frame ?
Where is that heading...

It not considered good practice but I did 2 engine rebuilds before I snagged cut up cover so by far most get away fine w/o the cover back up. I torque up almost to max then give a quicker harder levering to break friction to finish but not over strain the pinion area. I'd think there's be a market for a water jet cut brace in vein of the plate shown.

I bought one the last time this thread came around and it is really a nice piece, however, it is still in the box somewhere out in the garage and now I can't find it!

Are you certain you are in your garage? Sounds a lot like mine.

Gosh it ups my own ego to know not everyone has it all stacked and labeled organized. Don't think my manhood will ever catch up to my childish hording and forgeting. How much did that lost rarely needed treasure set ya back?

I'm over black - completely.
Light colours make it easier to see things when peering into the recesses of the machine, especially for us over 60s.

It's just heading onto the road, sooner rather than later I hope. There's no bling, just a collection of original parts combined with home-made seat and side covers.

It'll be spring here in Oz soon - gotta get that ignition sorted out.

Will post a series of pics when all done.

Cheers
Martin
