There are people who would deny there are gender differences between men and women. I know a lady road-racer who is very good, however she never prepares her own machine, so feedback to improve it is always through another person. So in the end that is where the credit for a win should go. A good bike creates a good rider, a good rider does not compensate for a bad bike.

I have raced against at least 2 woman when I was going clubman racing, both who were quite/ reasonably good, so credit where credit is due. I am all for the girls racing on bikes as long as they can roll their sleeves up and get their hands dirty – they can still use that washing up liquid that is kind to their hands afterwards

When I was racing regularly in Victoria, Peggy Hyde used to blow me to the weeds. I was using my 500cc Triton which I maintained myself. She was racing an H1 Kawasaki two stroke which her husband and others used to maintain. I don't believe that many women have a genuine interest in mechanical things, so their thought processes when racing a motorcycle are different. For myself, I am always analysing mechanical and handling deficiencies and work at continual improvement. For woman racer, if she is a good rider and is supported by a good team, she would be very hard to beat. But in the end who is better ? - our Australian top A grade riders are compulsive obsessive and very few of them ever rely on other people to prepare their machines.
