Here's a mate from Perth, West Australia departing Melbourne, Victoria last week for home on a '73 850 Interstate formerly owned by a good friend who's now got an artificial hip so kick starting the old beast was against doctor' advice. The new owner has never owned a Norton before only ridden one for about 10 minutes and has a modern Triumph Sprint and Guzzi S4.

Trip home was 3,500kms east to west. We fitted a new chain, airfilter and spark plugs. Checked battery and charge voltage. Oil and filter were recent. Gassed up and left. His kit included a swag as sometimes you can't get motel rooms at the gas stations so you sleep out. There are no "towns" across the Nullabor.
4 days later he phones and said all was good, and he is absolutely chuffed.

Good one. I've done the trip on my Buell but not the Norton.....yet. Bet he loved it.

i had a mate who was so depressed I pushed him in front of a steam train to cheer him up. He was chuffed to bits.

Whats that , wearing a rain suit in Oz, the land of perpetual sun?

Now you just need to convince the guy to put one of your heads on Fullauto

Ow...envy the ride experience, but not the sore butt. 400miles a day is pretty much my pain threshold on my roadster's seat. How many days was this journey?

No sore butt reported, its got a custom made Corbin style and 3,500kms (2,180 miles) in 4 days east to west. On the long bit inbetween, there is only 1 road, gas stations are about 120 miles apart and no cell phone cover either. The biggest worry for any biker is hitting wildlife, camels are the killers, (now I've got Hobot in a spin) or getting a flat.
