An interesting take on things...

The engine is a '62 long stroke and is not rubber mounted. The worst of both worlds I would think.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I also thought the Commando frame (sans isos and cradles) is of very light construction, which, it seems to me, would not stand up well to a solid mounted vibratory engine.
 
I've seen a short stroke G80CS engine in a featherbed and it looks right. There is one locally and I was tempted to build one but my G80CS is matching numbers so I resisted. Frame cracking was my first thought on this bike.
