My buddy races a Brammo (now Victory) with a full dustbin fairing and a more stock Brammo. He charges the racebikes with solar panels attached to the top of his race trailer.

As far as range is concerned, battery technology is constantly improving. The guys who race these things are at the cutting edge of that technology and it won't be long before more acceptable range is achieved. All the major bikemakers have electric prototypes in the works.

Watching the 400-volt factory prototypes streak by at 170 on the front straight at Indy last year after the MotoGP with nothing but chain and tire noise does not fail to impress. My friend's machine does 140+. He says he can hear the public address announcer while he's lapping at speed.

They probably laughed at Hildebrand and Wolfmuller, too.
