I just found out this thread existed, so I thought I'd throw out a mea culpa and try to take some of the heat off Dave. Our little project has taken much longer to get rolling than we expected. We've had to coordinate the schedules of a bunch of different people and get some things organized. If you want to hold anyone accountable, please make it me.

The good news is that we feel like we've made enough progress that we're ready to tell people. I'm not going to steal Dave's thunder, but I can promise that he'll be posting a new thread with the big announcement no later than Sunday. Maybe as early as tomorrow.

So final guesses, if anyone is still playing along. You have the photo, the hint or two he offered, and now you know that it's not a solo project. First correct guess wins a t-shirt. You've got about 48 hours.

And happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Just to be clear the t-shirts won't be available for a while.

And bringing back Norton.

Norton is where it belongs in England. However Indian should be returned from England, so long as the new US owner doesn't make as big a mess of the machine as the current owners. Credit Kenny, though, for putting Norton back on the path.

Saying Kenny was able to bring Norton back was a bit of an exaggeration, BUT he did create a bike that sure did get people looking. His passion for the marque was never in question just the money, This is where I think Stuart comes in. I believe he also has a passion to see this through, And he may have the dough to do it. But I do agree it's where it belongs back home. Having a dream and it coming true are two very different things, Sorry if I do still see Kenny as part of this, but he did get the ball rolling. That's all.

I disagree. The Norton America effort did just that, it brought Norton back. It consolidated the trademarks and created a prototype for the bike you see now. There is NO way that Norton would exist today without those efforts.

So when, Mr. Swoosh, will you be announcing the winner?

Horton is correct, the project is about Kenny Dreer and Norton America. We have filmed several subjects so far and have a lot of work ahead of us. There will be many more details to be shared, perhaps some as soon as this weekend.

YAHTZEE!

Running test prototypes were "square 1". They WERE the new Commandos.

Your right Dave and that's true, I just wish the money had not run out. But Stuart Garner has also done a lot of work and put a ton of money into the new Norton also, To me they both have played a huge role in this. The most important thing will be to see that it does become profitable and it does stand the test of time, This is a very tough time to be taking something like this on. With Menard developing the motors I wish I had the money to buy one. There is no doubt Kenny had the vision and the eye for the style of the machine, and that is what everyone is so excited about. Right?

Menard are out- hence the "engine manufacture in-house" news now-, and the money poured in in America was quite a bit more than the amount since spent in England. Whilst Kenny and his money man poured in their own money, I think a not inconsiderable portion of what has now been spent came from deposits for bikes not yet delivered.

We have launched the website for the film now. You will be able to follow along as we continue production. Of course we're on Facebook and Twitter too.

American Norton

This project will take as long or longer than rebuilding a bike. But the results will be just as exciting.

Very cool project Dave; is it safe to assume there will be DVD's when the project is finished?

Yes, at some point. There may not be available immediately, there are other channels that may have priority such as broadcast and festivals. We'll know a lot more after it's done but for now the only thought is to get it done.

The first update is on the website. We'll be adding images as we go along. Take a look as we unveil some very rare photos and behind the scenes looks. Thanks!

Dave, you need to fix your signature link.

"linky no worky"

I figured it out, just needed the www and .com
