Hi all, on initial Alton install i was curious as to why the cover only required one dowel when the original had two??... but anyway fitted a new "O" ring lightly lubricated it and offered the cover up, it aligns with the single dowel well enough but the cover isn't sitting and running parallel with the Alton chain case (sitting down at the rear) yes there is a small degree of wiggle room around the centre stud/ securing nut, but even with an amount of "upward pressure" the cover still not sitting parallel when tightened...
I have now completed around 300miles since install and i have an ominous oil leak from the joint.....
Anway dropped the cover off, checked all the faces for contamination, places the cover on a surface plate with engineers blue, all good
Installed new "O" ring ( again) and rebuilt without the dowel, and the cover aligns much better... I'm OK with this but not sure if it could alter the timing marks by a small degree
Has anyone else had a similar cover alignment issue?
I do plan to talk with Alton next week
