Air box removal

Prior to fitting a Power Commander to my 961 Sport, I'm de-catting the exhaust & opening up the airbox to allow the engine to breath more freely.

De-catting was easy and cheap. £30 to remove the cats and replace with a simple tube.

For the airbox I plan to open up the underside, install an aluminium air inlet (from Demon Tweeks) and connect this to the underside of the standard air filter, which I will modify. This will allow the filter to be fed from both under the seat and from the underside of the airbox. The inlet is anodised black so should be discrete but hopefully effective. I'll take some photos during the process.

I am however trying to remove the airbox from the bike, having unbolted it, removed the fuel injection rubbers and various hoses it's loose but I'm struggling to get it clear of the frame.

Does anyone know how to do this? Do I have to remove the rear wheel and take it out of the rear or can it be rotated and removed from between the side frame tubes?

Cool
Sounds like you going all out
As far as I'm aware the airbox comes out through the back once the back wheel has been removed.
Look forward to photos .
Cheers
Paul

Thanks for the advice Paul. I'll get the wheel out tomorrow!

Are you still please with your bikes performance with the PC fitted?

Oh yes
Rides like a dream with the fuelling
Now about 2000 km since installing
No regrets
