I would like to add a 2nd gearbox adjuster to my 1971 Roadster. Any tips on anchor bolt placement and choice of the longer through-bolt are appreciated.

Here is a couple of photos. The important thing to do is to have it face forward rather than back as with the ts side. The drive side adjuster would be unusable if oriented as the ts side.

The forward hole is the one that is used.

Thanks! The note about mounting the stud forward is helpful. I am planning on using a second stock adjuster. Can I use a plain 9/16" through-bolt, or must I grind the head down to fit?

I think you will need a longer bolt, possibly 5 1/2 to 6" and an all metal locking jam nut on the primary side. A regular width may be fine. You will have to see for your own particular clearance issues.

With mine, I used the original primary side fastener, drilling, tapping and adding a stud to incorporate existing equipment. This fastener on mine is not a nut per say but is a threaded item and machined to set into the groove of the cradle.

As you can see, mine is shimmed out to compensate for the Maney outrigger and the machined rises are no longer applicable.
