A65 crank spacing

I am trying to achieve the correct spacing on the A65 crank. The shim kit has .010 .005 .003 shims. I have the cases mounted in a stand with a dial indicator. Even so, it is difficult to measure accurately and have it repeatable. So..I am using feel and common sense too.
With a .010 shim in place I have .005 clearance and the crank rolls freely. I can detect a tiny amount of end play by eye.
With .013 installed I can feel a very small amount of drag while turning the crank by hand. The crank will stop spinning at different positions which tells me there is minute binding.
There are no other shims.
The correct end play is .003 max.
My question is ...will the yamabond 1104 give me approx .001 extra and the .o13 shim pack be good? Will I gain a slight bit more clearance after a bit of running?

Remember, the dial indicator is not giving me the same readings twice so it is not very useable.

Depends what year bike . Pre or post 1966. If it has rollers(post 66), tighten everything on drive side before checking(pipe cut to length works). Move crank with lever in sump hole against flywheel. Make sure thrust bearing is in place and bush and bearing seated properly.

Ball bearing crank checked same way, except nothing on drive end of crank.

Another thing attach cylinder before tightening crankcase bolts to make sure the halves are aligned.

Haynes and Clymer manual both mention a float of 0.0015" - 0.003" (0.038 - 0.076 mm).
J.B. Nicholsons' MMM mentions "the manufacturers recommend setting this (the end play) between the limits of 0.002" - 0.004" when overhauling"

I finally got it adjusted by cutting my own shim, got it down to .0015 0r .002. Turns freely with no end to end play.
