I went to a local bike auction Yesterday and there were several Nortons on offer.

Commando hi rider sold for £7500 = £8850 after buyers premium

mk3 Interstate sold for £7000 = £8250 after premium

unregistered 961 didn’t sell as the auction went up to £20,000 with an estimate of £25k that I assume was the reserve, I believe this isn’t its first ‘non-sale’ at auction.

I didn’t take many other photos as I’m still not very mobile since my heart bypass operation last month, here’s one other with forefront a very nice ‘Yamaha YSC3E a type I once owned 50 years ago.

Finally another very unusual machine, it’s a French SanSouPap 500cc. Believed to be one of only two in existence. Lovely condition, but it failed to reach its £15,000 estimate. Sorry this picture is grabbed off the website

Hope your on the mend Flatspot i had a pacemaker fitter two years ago that now needs to be replaced... at least yours was done under a GA .... mine will be done with a local

I always thought pacemaker batteries were very long lived.

Nope, mine was under general and really not a nice experience. The only fun part bout it was yesterday at the auction. A couple of chaps were talking about and comparing their knee operation scars, and I turned said “I can trump those” lifted my shirt and one fellow said “oh fook he’s had a heart transplant“ I didn’t correct him:)

The batteries do last around 10 years, for me the the unit is causing other issues with the pacemaker to being in sync with th heart rhythm .... so a two lead unit is being removed and a four lead unit fitted

Which reminds me, when the nurse was fully disconnecting me from the appliances in readiness for being able to get out of bed, she pulled out 2 wires from my chest - apparently they were pacemaker wires installed just in case they were needed post-operatively, very unpleasant feeling them being pulled out.

And if you think that was bad, before I left ICU they removed the 2 drains at the lower end of my incision (not in picture) and I was asked to tense my abs as best I could and a deep breath before they removed them.
Horrible, absolutely horrible, the second one being the worst.

They refused to let me take a photograph of it as it was so gruesome - all of 1/2 inch diameter and 14 inches long.

Ok ok that's enough!!!!! o_O
Hope you are doing well now

Very slooooow progress and I’ve had a quick trip back into the local hospital when some of my meds disagreed with me. Better now. I am perhaps at 65% of where I’d like to be. Slowly, slowly for now.

worst of all, I’ve just read that one of another bike forum ‘mates’ has just unexpectedly died of……

heart attack.

That’s now 4 lost in 6 months. 3 heart attacks and the other knocked off his bike by a car.
