Only got out for a short ride today. We had intermittent showers but this afternoon I some sun so I decided to make a run for it. A local Ducati shop was having a fundraiser for one of their employees who was injured in a crash.

A good cause.

I always wanted to check the shop out and to donate to a good cause was reason enough. It's a super cool shop. There were a few bikes there, plus food and raffle tickets. Pretty sure they would have called me by now if I had won, but that's ok. Interesingly two different times recently people have asked if my bike is a Ducati. Just yesterday it was a couple guys in a Porsche 356, good thing I didn't say "nice VW". I have been perplexed by this (keep in mind the only place that it says Norton is on the timing cover) but now I kind of get it. It's the racing tank and seat and for most people any bike that's old and in that configuration is probably an old Ducati. I need some logos on the bike soon.

I did see some cool bikes…
A good cause.

Not bad for being Italian. Sorry about the picture, I had some fuzz on the lens.

I also liked the mirrors and turn signals on this one:
A good cause.

Bar end turn signals, I think Jean tried something like this.

On the way out I rode past this industrial building and had to stop and take a pic.
A good cause.

This is the same area that these photos were taken:

A good cause.

Isn't it time to Paint your tank yellow and add some Norton Decals to that nice aluminium.

Yes, but that would take away from some riding time. Since we only have 3 months of good riding weather I think it can wait.

Just as a matter of interest why do the inspection covers seem to be missing from your primary cover?

you used the phrase "good cause" twice. I guess the girl in the first pic had nothing to do with your going.

Just to bring continuity to this misdirected topic, here is a couple links about Erica Price. Maybe not Commando related but thoughts and prayers are rarely out of place.

Hey Dave nice outfit. New boots too? Erice's got nothin on you.

And speaking of continuity you might as well leave the gas tank the way it is. Something needs to match the breadbox you got off the back of those carbs

Because I haven't figured out how I want to vent the primary. And because it bugs hobot.

To tell you the truth I've never met her. And I may never. But I wanted to check out the shop and knew there would be some cool bikes. I resisted taking a picture of the Busa with wood paneling. And it was an excuse to get out of the house and go for a quick spin.

3 people watching you start it,,,, that would equal 30 kicks wouldn't it

That pic was actually me pulling in. A nice young lady started snapping pictures the second I tried to park. With a few people watching and a camera rolling I'm looking down to make sure I get it in neutral and nothing else is out of line that would make me topple over. Always a good idea not to drop the bike when there's an audience.

The bike is a one kicker when warm, and sometimes it's a half-hearted one at that.

Those are actually my trials boots. While they look like motocross boots they have a flat, softer rubber sole and are a lot more flexible (in trials you need to move around a lot on the pegs and also be able to walk a lot). They make really nice riding boots, although a little heavy they provide more than enough protection. And with the pant legs over them you can't even tell what they are. I had been using MX boots for trials and once I got proper trials boots I did much better.

It's hard to get respect...I tell ya,

Just the other day I told my wife I was going for a ride on my Norton, she said call me when you get it started so I can get ready to come pick you up.

I went to a rally and they put an orange cone next to my bike while I was trying to start it so I wouldn't become a traffic hazard.

I said "we only have three months of good riding weather" and some asshole suggested I move to Salem or Eugene where the guys ride year 'round.

It's hard...

It could be worse, in Alaska I hear Norton owners carry a tow rope and when the bike won't start they tie one end of the rope round the handlebars and the other around one of the native mosquitos and get pulled home.
