Dogs wagging their tails is very cute and endearing. However, 961s wagging their silencers is less so. My SF, with long pipes, seems to want to fall to pieces as it keeps loosing the mounting bolts from the right hand silencer.

Spot the difference with the LHS.

And before Fast Eddy (the greatest exponent of the shorty) suggests it. I don't want shorties as I think they detract from the aesthetic.
I have resorted to nyloc nuts plus spring washers under the bolt heads. We'll see how that works out on my forthcoming trip to IoM for the Festival of Motorcycling and onto the Burnout at Donington on 1st Sept. If it dosn't hold together I should be able to have a head scratching session with some of the boys from Donington. Here's hoping that wont be necessary.

I had a similar problem and the nylock duty sorted it

When I first saw this post I thought you meant the mufflers were cracking. Anyhow I have never had that happen and I drive down expressways and revving the engine up . But i will keep a eye on mine. Can you rotate the the muffler any closer to the mount ?

Rob,
Fair shout. Mine have been on and off over the last 3 years for various reasons so 'operator error' (that would be mostly me) cannot be completely ignored.

Well it’s obviously due to those long pipes acting like giant, heavy, ungainly tuning forks and vibrating things to pieces. But I won’t say anything...

Nooo - they just want to proudly wave around in all their elegant majesty unlike the stumpies cowering in embarrasment at their flatulant trumpetings....

Just had an exhaust bracket to frame mounting bolt come undone and disappear down the motorway. Warranty guys are sending a replacement but I'm thinking castle nuts and split pins and wired bolts onto the exhaust mounting while its off......

I had a bracket crack on the SBN gen 1 from the X pipe to the silencer and the seperated. All that time I was thinking "damn...she sounds awesome" not realizing I was "this close" to losing my silencer.

When racing mate you have got to wire lock sump plugs and other parts other wise no racing so agree with Clive wire locking the answer
