A brand new 961 listed by NY dealer on ebay . . . I though all of these things were already sold on a "pre-import deposit only" and "you can place thousands down to get on the wait list" basis? Hmmm.

Cool bikes, and I plan to pick one up, but not at $20k. Let some have to have it throw back mid-lifer (wait, that could be describing ME) pop on one and then when they need the cash or are tired of making payments (who makes payment on a toy?? -whole different debate) I will swoop in . . . 8)

I'm guessing that dealership "inherited" a disillusioned depositor some time ago, and is hoping to unearth some gold by selling it for whatever the market will bear on e-bay.

I saw that bike. I have a deposit down, but want a dual seat. The dealer called me to check this one out. The depositor didn't want it. A clutch switch broken during shipping, so, when I saw it, they were waiting on the part and bypassed the switch to crank it up. Nice bike. I'm sure they have it ready to go. Lets face it. January in NY is hardly bike selling season. They only took 500 for the deposit. Not thousands.

Just surprised with all the hype and 'demand' that they would not have to resort to ebay . . .

Is there a version of the 961 with black rims?

Interesting that they've already replaced the factory exhaust with a custom system. For looks, I would still prefer the originals with their peashooter appearance, but the aftermarket 2-into-one would save some weight. Not that it matters much to me. At $20k+ it's out of my comfort zone by a lot.

The bike is shown with the stock exhaust and that is how it sits in the showroom! The aftermarket is not a 2-into-one, it looks exactly like the one pictured!

You're right. I was confused by the statement in the auction that "AS AN ADDED FEATURE, THE BIKE HAS AN X-PIPE & EXHAUST", and the picture I was looking at had cut off the tapered end of the exhaust. The other pictures made it clearer that it is a 2-into-2 exhaust, and does have the peashooter style. So, if it's a stock exhaust, what are they talking about it being an added feature? I'm still a little confused here.

Apparently, it's a stock-appearing aftermarket crossover system...

The X pipe is for off road use only which I know for a fact. It comes with the package is an assumption on my part. The new owner may do as he pleases with it .

I heard that bike running too. Not very meaty. Could use a better sounding exhaust. Then again, that was in the shop. Might sound better on the open road.

My prediction is that there will be a handful of these for sale used in 8-10 months with a thousand or so miles at a decent discount . . . we'll see. For some, the novelty will wear off quickly . . .

According to the Norton web site, the Sport model has the conventional forks. The other two models have the upside down forks.

Not a fan of the sport either but thats the only 2 seater version I've seen so far. If I get another single seater bike my wife will have a fit. I guess if I was buying new I could have one of the others built that way but in reality I'm looking at the second hand market down the road.

The SE and SF versions both have black rims. There will only be 50 SE models made and they have all been pre-sold !
