I'm looking to update the stock exhaust. I'd like to stick with the long pea shooter look. I'm familiar with the SB type.
Any idea what the noise level of the factory motad longs versus the SB longs?
And then the fitment. I'd probably keep the cats. I've read that the SBs have a close chain quirk. I've also read that SB is updating there's but I haven't been in touch with them yet to confirm.
Do the Motads fit any better?
There's a silver 961 that is on you tube that the fellow drives away. Its about a 1.5 minute clip. The poster was my ty. Does anyone know or care to take a guess which exhaust that bike has?
Thanks Everyone

The clearance problem is hit or miss but comes from the mid-pipe. If you just get the silencers you won't have a problem!

My best guess is those are the SB Dominator Torquers, the Sports are slightly louder!
There is a better video there by Greg B comparing stock to the Dominator Torquer. 4:44 long!

Ok. Thanks for the input. SB claims more performance with their sliencers. 10hp. Does anyone know if the Norton/Motad's have any increase in power? Or is the 10hp a combination of the bigger silencers and tune?
Thanks

Either choice will give you more HP due to increased air flow. A motor is just a big air pump, if you flow more air you create more power!

I swapped exhaust first without a remap, getting the SB Torque units and noticed an increase in performance. Then, noticed a bigger improvement when remapped, but these are just seat-of-the-pants impressions. Iridium plugs also help the bike run smoother at lower rpms.

I originally installed the Norton long "free-flow mufflers" to replace the stock cans the 961 came with. The Norton sounded much like a sewing machine with the stock pipes installed. I had the fuelling remapped at the same time. The two sets of pipes are identical except for the diameter of the exit hole.

The free flow pipes sound much better but they are still quite tame in volume.

I met a fellow at the Norton dealer who had the shortie pipes on his Cafe Racer 961. They looked really cool and had quite a bark!!!

I installed those without a remap and the bike runs beautifully without a remap!
