My project bike came with combat heads and a set of old 930 carbs. They will need rebuilding for sure.
-Is it worth rebuilding the 930’s and using them, or am I choking the potential of the 32mm intakes?
-Someone in my city has a set of old 932’s I could buy and rebuild, or are there good reasons to fork out the $$$ and buy new Amels?

Yes and yes. Depends a lot on how you rebuild it and how you will ride it.

Get a new pair of 32 amal premiers from this site.

Are you sure its a combat head ?. Do the 930 carbs have a step where they meet the manifold ?

I purchased my bike with 30mm's on it along with the Combat head and the difference is negligible. There is nothing wrong with detuning a Combat a bit.
Your bike will run great with the 30's. No ill effects.

The heads have "C" stamped on top and the intake ports measure 32mm + there is a noticable step in size between the carb spacer I.D. and the intake port.
-So WHY would it be better to buy new? Have there been improvements made?

I just saw the price for a new set of 32's available through this site. That helps, Thanks to whoever set up that deal for members.

Ok, if your carb are old and questionable and you have the means, then by all mean get the new premiers. I have run the gamut with carbs and since the release of the new Premiers, a lot of peoples faith in Amal, including my own, has bee restored.

Resleeving was a viable option and still may be. and it didn't make much sense to buy new Amal if you were just buying the same ole same ole. If you're rebuilding, floats, slides, the whole jamboree, you will still be stuck with the worn out bodies.

So to revise my earlier post, go with the Premiers and go for 32's. It will be money well spent.
