I have seen some second hand barrels on ebay that only have 4 cooling fins spaced further apart than the normal fins. I have seen old dunstall alloy barrels but these don't look like those an there is no mention of them being alloy. Does anyone know more about them????

Its on ebay the UK site an item numb 350793626513.
Sorry I don't know how to just put picture on here. I notice 1 of the pistons is damaged near the valve cut out. But a set of Dunstall alloy barrels I saw once had much thicker fins that were also more rounded than those of the ebay barrels. Also I believe am right (correct me if you know better) in sayin Dunstall barrels are less than 830cc and certainly not 920. The base of the fins looks almost welded to the barrels in some photos but in another shot there is what looks like a spilt line of mold from casting process like that found on normal barrels.

I think they might be RGM barrels. I have seen that style before and my memory is telling me they are rgm. Could be wrong tho

I saw those barrels on Ebay. Wondered if every alternate fin had been machined out? Certainly looks like that design would affect the cooling capacity on the barrels.....

They look like 920 converted Norton barrels, even down to the casting marks on the rear flange.

As for the reason that fins have been removed ? To make them look Dunstallish ? Running on methanol ?

I'm with 79x100 here. They are almost certainly 850 barrels with 920 sleeves and some of the fins removed. No idea why.

I've seen this modification on the sidecar motocross outfits. If the cylinder is covered in mud it doesn't really matter how many fins it has. The removal of every other fin makes it easier to clean after the race.

Well somebody bough them within less than a day of being listed for the buy now price so that saved me wondering if I should buy them or not.
