850 Project. (Some assembly required.)

That seems on the verge, or a tad over the line, of reasonable price for what is in the photos...

A great many of the parts are unusable. The engine is unnumbered. The crank might not be useable. The cylinders are bad and have broken fins.

If it were in the US and titled and someone would deliver it to me, I would give $1500. It would take another $9000+ to get it ready for sale and it would be a tough sale since it's not matching numbers. Late last year I bought a Combat and a 74 850 in that condition but both matching numbers and titled and delivered for $3000. He wanted $2200 each, but was happy to get both gone in one trip for $3000.

This one has been for sale for about two years and could be had for about $4250+shipping which is still around $1000 too high (that's why I don't own it). It's certainly not a good bike, but is matching numbers, titled, and WAY better than the one in the UK ad:

He had this one and a running/riding, matching numbers, titled, but messy Combat. I offered $6000 for the pair about 6 months ago - he countered at $8000 - too much. My rule on offers - I make one and if not accepted, I didn't need it anyway!

Question: Do junk basket cases go for that kind of money in the UK?

answer, yes - they often do. There are people in the UK who bring container loads of US 'barn find' bikes over and sell them on eBay. Commandos and T160s are still fetching high prices over here, albeit maybe a bit less than they used to.
