So first ride of the season didn't go too well for me, circlip decided to leave the piston and instead create a rather deep groove on my cylinder.
fast forward to now, I've had a call from my machinist and from my std bore its clean at +0.60 .
this leaves me with an issue, new hepolites are avavilible, but I'm not sure of rings? do i stick with stock items or got NOS hepolite rings and new pistons?
theres also slightly dearer JP pistons available, are these better??

now I've also got a Triumph t100ss that i fitted hepolites into and smoked like anything. but on a complete rebuild doesn't smoke with LF harris rings, so I'm in major doubts on thet he supplied rings.

really I'm looking at any good or bad experiences with the above pistons and possibly anything else i should be looking at???

Jp piston are best avoided if only for the stiff rings that never bed in. Modern Hepolites are JCC pistons with Hastings rings for 750s at least, 850's not so sure.

I'm only one example, but the (new in 2014) Emgo/JCC pistons and Hastings rings are doing fine on my 850.

Modern Hepolite/JCC pistons get my vote too on my 750. I believe JCC make pistons for just about every Japanese car.

Hastings are cast iron. Be sure to use a coarse hone. No finer than 200 grit. Scrub the heck out the bores with hot soapy water to remove hone stone debris. Wipe down with oily rag and it should show no dirt. Don't saturate the bores with oil. Spot of oil on rings. Spot of oil on piston skirts. Assembly lube on the pins.

thanks for the replies, in the end i went for the JCC pistons/ new hepolites with NOS hepolite rings.

hoping to get the barrels back next week :D
