I know this subject has been discussed before, but, I have just spent 2 days trying to work out why my back wheel, which has just come back from the wheel rebuilder with new spokes bearings etc, would not

fit back between swing arm, I eventually traced it to the sleeve that passes through the wheel bearings, it was protruding out of the brake side too far, but why, because before the wheel was recoed it used to go in no problem, I saw this same thing on this forum with a photo and red arrow pointing to this projection, so into the lathe and turned it off and no more problems, but why? any clues. Mine is a 71 750 commando

I had exactly the same issue with my Atlas (basically the same wheel configuration). I was short about 0.140 inch to get that last spacer in. Traced the problem to a bow in the swing arm. How the bow got there stumps me, but the last spacer would always go in with my fingers on previous occasions. I took the bow out with a hydraulic press, then there was no problem.

Two others I know had this problem show up on their Cdos... both ended up forcing the swing arms apart .... not the proper solution to the problem.

Slick
