It's driving me nuts with no oil dipstick and a highly occluded original tube where even with a flashlight I can't see the oil level.

Is there a good way to fix this?

Do I need a special crimping tool to put those ends on a new tube?

What's the trick to disassembling the old one?

Is there any interim solution like hose clamps and clear plastic tubing or would that introduce another leak for me to chase?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

I fitted clear plastic tube and hose clamps on my 69 Fastback and yes I could not stop the oil weeping from the tube. I could not find any one to crimp the tube like they were done ex factory.

I also used a piece of reinforced clear plastic tube with 2 hose clips, started out clear so it was possible to see the oil level.
After a while it goes yellow amd makes it hard to see the oil,so I just replace it with a new piece till next time.

Thanks guys. I've looked all over norvile's sight and can't seem to find an NOS replacement so ill probably end up going the vinyl tubing route

Theres Plastic & theres Plastic . REPCO here ( Auto Parts supplyer ) ( Aus. ) have 4 mm bore ( I use for bleeding brakes ) , that is embossed ' FUEL RESISTANT ' ( or whatever ) .

So High Temp ' proper ' yube , even if its translucent , isnt likely to melt . And it wasnt as expensive as the El Ceapo clear neoprene tube from the builders supplies .

While we're there , FUEL TUBE should be quality fire resistant stuff . Chase it up . Used the braided laminated stuff which is chaff resistant / semi armoured .

I gave up on that piece of pipe years ago, soft solder a couple of caps or plugs over the ends and check the oil level through the filler cap. Two less leaks to deal with.
