Hi there.. This is probably a silly question but are 20W fuses the same in the USA as in the UK? I'm working on the electics and the fuse is blown and would like to buy a few for spares. Wasn't sure if they might be rated differently?? Thanks for your advice.

NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!!!! they ARE NOT!! the same!!!

The Electricians will be along shortly to (way better than me) explain the difference.

(I'll give you 3 guesses how I know this).

haha, thanks Vince.. looking forward to hearing the explanation. Yep, I'm still trying to translate my Northern English to Northern American, let alone figure out measurements & ratings

Fast burn slow melt, I use 20A US fast burn automotive when I run out of slow melt British variety. But I think I've just had my last fling fuss with that factory glass fuse - Couldn't start Trixie yesterday out the blue, battery check good then found fuse warm and holder cap tabs melted away, hm, horn quit the week prior. Once short found a tiny 20A blade fuse will be put in.

The original handbook "35A" fuse recommendation refers to the old Lucas system of rating fuses by the 'blow' amps.

Modern fuses are numbered using the continuous rating, so 35A blow = 17A continuous. Unless you use the old Lucas style 1.25"/30mm glass 35A fuses which are still available, then the nearest modern equivalent is either 15A or 20A.
