I have been otherwise engaged and not on the forum much. However it’s That time again. September 4/5th. 2021 conditions permitting Donnington trip for 961’s at the Priest House already booked for Richard, Stuart and myself. All welcome. Booking.com have an upgrade deal on and rooms are around £60 per night. Something to look forward to. Come for the weekend. Come for a day. Up to you. Maybe just maybe we could get a visit to the factory!!!!

How far from Donington Castle to Factory in Solihull ? An hours drive ?

Hi. Less than an hour. But I am sure someone will know a circular route.

I hope they let you go to the factory and take some pics . That would be great to see. Good luck !

A grand opening for existing loyal owners would be nice. From Donington down the M42 about an hour. Assuming it opens up and they haven't sold everything you can visit our brilliant National Motorcycle Museum for a sausage and bacon sarnie or more likely vegan sourdough ciabatta for us posh 961 owners...

The museum needs all the support it can get at the moment. Not sure how Sammy Miller's is fairing the Covid storm, probably not much better.

I suppose we can safely assume die hard NOC members wouldn't e up for an open day but sounds like a grand idea and hopefully something they would want to do. We should suggest it. Any Norton staff on these threads, Guessing SS not so interested any more which is a great shame

Just a nudge for those that not aware , few of us try & meet up now & again , first weekend in September at Donnington, yep we know factory gone but the “ Priest House “ hotel on the river is rather nice ,
So any one who lives within hour so should at least come on down for a look/coffee/ & “ Where it all go wrong “ sought of chat !
Bout 4/5 of us staying 2 nights atm , last year few more rolled up to

Is this date set in stone..

Apologies in advance to the proud KTM owner... but next to a Dominator the KTM looks like it’s come out of the injection moulding machine deformed ...!

Steady on old chap, I have a KTM 1290,
can’t see it when sitting on it but by god it does the job.‍

No disputing that.

Just can’t work out why they don’t employ a designer responsible for styling...?!
And what the ## has gone wrong with the shape of headlights these days? Bike headlights are round. Always have been and always should be. Latest things look like they have melted and drooped down towards the front wheel. Harrumph.....

I love it when you get going Clive... you make me sound progressive !!

Really, young folk love that look, it's awesome.
Also, they must have all the jagged, brightly painted plastic bodywork bits bolted to the bikes.
It's the end of good taste, and modern society in general.

Now for something completely different.......

I know we are going completely off subject here, but I cannot believe the pointy and sharp plastic bits at the front of some modern bikes. Front number plates were banned in the 70's because of the very nasty injuries they caused to pedestrians. There is no way a car manufacturer would be able to get type approval for a car with similar protrusions and sharp edges so how can bikes?
