2-part Shorai battery

Got a surprise this afternoon when removed the Shorai battery (LFX21LG-BS12) from my Mark 3, and had it come out of the battery box in 2 pieces.

It separated into a top and bottom at the seam.

ANybody else had this happen? Thoughts on whether I should just epoxy it back together again? Don't want to trash it ($ it's pricey) if i don't have to.

Think i bought it from CNW - probably a couple of years ago now, so I don't think it's still under warranty.

And it looks superficial....

I would guess that vibration got to it. I would glue it back together -but not with epoxy -I would probably use
shoe go or some other flexible single part adhesive. jim

Shorai has extended it's 3 year warranty policy to include batteries purchased previously. If I recall correctly, it used to be 2 years. I had one for my Norton that expired just days after the end of the warranty period! The warranty is pro-rated, so if yours is close to 3 years old, you won't get much credit for it anyhow.

I would ask Shorai for a replacement, depending on how old your battery is, obviously. I had a Shorai completely die, (2of the 4 cells) They sent me a reconditioned replacement in 2 days! (free) My original battery was a year and a half old. I found their customer service to be excellent! Just call them .

I wonder how long these Shorais last. I've had one in a bike now for over 8 years. Still works great but I reckon I'm on borrowed time.

Sure doesn't look like there's much in there. could be made even smaller than the already are.

I also have had excellent customer service with Shorai. Two Cells were dead in a battery almost 2 years old. Sent it to them for testing and a new one (reconditioned) arrived the same week. Yours obviously had a defective case.
