I realize that the switctch is closed when the tranny is in neutral, can anyone describe to me just how the switch is activated? I am considering the installation of my 1971 tranny gear clusters into a 1975 gearbox shell to have the neutral light work on the console that I have installed on my upper triple clamp. The info would help me in this project this winter. Thanks, Craig

I got a N switch to try to put in a 750 - ain't attempted yet but IIRC there is a small indention in the cam plate the switch nose-feeler falls into that closes the circuit to light up in N. The real issue is there is no provision in 750 boxes to screw in the swtich so tricky to drill tap to aim switch nose correctly.

My 750s cam plates don't have the Neutral notch so must make one in the right spot or get 850 notched version or maybe micro switch on the gear pointer over the shift lever.

It isn't a "notch" or "indentation".

I have looked at Old Britts website and the p/n for the pre 75 camplate is different than the 75 camplate, so the next question is: are the two camplates identical except for the raised button on the 75 camplate??? Craig

Yes you can use any Commando camplate but it's a tough cookie to make a hole in them to fit a raised button.

Why? You mean LOCATING the hole? :?:

Like I mentioned: "to make a hole" as in "to cut/drill a hole" in the hardened camplate

Ohh so the N switch is off extended and on depressed by the cam button, hmm. Wonder if theres provision for this on the TT gearboxes? Don't take much to move the switch stalk so maybe just tap a bolt with contoured head in the right spot. The port the switch screws into would be the 2nd difference in AMC cases from the Atlas version.

Few more differences: MK3 case is more beefy around the bearings, MK3 top quadrant spindle lead-through is shorter (to make room for the gear cross shaft).
