Hi All,
Introducing myself. New to Access Norton.
Owner of a few classics. Here's my newest project.
Going to be giving this one a through once over.

Would like to get started by sending the gas tank out for repair.
Leaks around the mounting studs. Slight rust inside.
Looking for recommendations for a shop or individual that does this type of repair and also possible paintwork (if needed after repair).

Posted a few pictures of the bike in the "Norton Motorcycle Rebuilds" section.

If the integrity of the tank mounts is still good you may be able to solve your issues with a good sealer. If the mounts have lost their strength then I would think that your friendly local radiator shop could fix you up; it will, most likely, require a re-spray afterwards.

If you are willing go as far afield as CBE in Vermont, then try Brent at the Village Vendor, also in Vermont (http://vintage-vendor.com/). Brent has done some very impressive paint work for many members in this forum. I do not know to what extent he effects repairs on tanks, but is phone is listed. CBE will send your tank to him if it ends up needing paint work.

As a side note: I met Brent this morning, he had business in Rhode Island and graciously agreed to stop by my shop, on his way home, and pick up my tin work for a '73 Norton and a '70 BSA I'm working on, a great guy with an uncommon customer-centric attitude.

i take it, when you say leaking around the mounting studs, that the sheet metal has failed.a good cleaning and a good tig weld will fix that.

some of us would be happy to get a basket of parts to the stage you are starting from.

Bike looks pretty dam good compared to mine. I've been at it for almost a year.
