I’ve reluctantly decided to part ways with my dream project bike. I’ve realized the time commitment it requires is much more than I can give it right now with small children and other projects that take priority. For your consideration is a matching numbers 1974 Norton Commando 850 Roadster model. I have been slowly working on this thing over the past couple of years, but I just don’t seem to find the time to get much accomplished on it, and I need the garage space more than a second project bike. The engine when I found it was locked up. I have since removed the engine from the bike, removed the head and the jugs and that’s about as far as I got. I purchased a set of new .020 over pistons and rings with the intentions of getting the cylinders bored out, currently there is a little bit of rust and pitting on the cylinder walls hence the plans on boring. The head was in pretty rough shape when I got it, with stripped out exhaust ports. I sent the head out to Jim Comstock (www.nortonmachineshop.com) and had him do his aluminum bronze exhaust thread insert (), and while he had it had him clean and polish the head. It is a new head ready for new parts. I had planned to purchase new valves, guides and springs for it, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. It is fresh ready for assembly.

The bike is mainly complete except for a handful of items. It is missing the right exhaust header. The left and both tail pipes are here and in good shape. It is missing the side covers, and the ignition switch. It is also missing the air box. Everything else seems to be there and in original ok condition ready for painting or keep the patina look. Everything that I have disassembled, I have carefully kept track of and placed in Ziploc bags and labeled all components.

When I purchased it did not have a title. I went through the nightmare and headache and currently it does have a clear title in my name. With the purchase, I will include a flash drive of all pictures, documentation, repair and parts manuals in pdf that I’ve acquired during ownership. I’ve done a pretty good job of documenting progress with pictures.

    Please contact me with questions.

    Thanks,
