Someone needs to track this down, buy it, clean it and get it running.

1973 JPN Rectrans Discoverer 25

North Downs, outside London.

"These were built by the Rectrans subsidiary of the White Corporation, atop the industrial Dodge M300 chassis. The design mandate, which fell to Larry Shinoda of Corvette Sting Ray, Chevy Z28 Camaro and Boss 302 Mustang fame, was for a streamlined RV capable of more than 10mpg. Wind tunnel testing aided in a final figure of 10.1mpg with a top speed of more than 100mph. Power is from a Dodge 413 backed by a 727 Torqueflite auto".

1973 JPN Rectrans Discoverer 25

My tribute in the US. This unit was once owned by Jamie Waters. I have another that will receive a Cummins powerplant and more modern chassis. I understand that the real deal in the UK was restored and sold on EBAY a few years ago. I had communicated with a past owner that had used the hauler to sell ladies shoes @ bazaars.

Nice. Not so sure this is that one that was restored, since this post from March would indicate otherwise

I wonder if anyone has checked to see if this modified to a rolling garage as per the JPS/Norton Factory Race Team or if is still as it came from RECTRANS as my unit is?

So that’s where this van has ended up, looks like it needs a bucket of water with some green algae remover and a floor sponge to brighten it up :!:
