Good Day all,

I must admit that I have been lurching around for a bit. Always wanted a Norton and finally 2 days ago came across one. I would like to run a few things past the membership.
The VIN is 20M3S/144365. I have no rush restoring this relic, having only a true documented 2661.1 miles on the clock. I was told that this s/n is a 1971 Norton LR Fastback. I was also told that only 400 were made and are the most collectable Commando.

Everything I heard so far is taken with a grain of salt, I'm also aware of the fact that if the overwhelming response on this forum is confirming the above, I consider myself really luckly. In addition it the above is true I have no rush to restore, due to the fact that I would have to source out the correct tank, seat and rear fender.

pls advise

I assume the bike is configured as a roadster now? Is it running and ridable? Then go ride! Swapping out body parts is pretty easy to do.

The first Fastback LR was 144343, so you are right in there. What is the date on plate on the headstock? Should be around APR 1971. Most desirable? That's in the eye of the beholder. Some would say the R, or S, some even the original Fastbacks. Sounds like you have a fine bike to start with, we need pictures to confirm.

Look at the very first post by L.A.B on this sections main page. All explained there.
